Privacy Policy
Effective 31 October 2026
In short: SG Mahjong has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your game data stays on your iPad unless you choose to post a win to the Hall of Fame or use Game Center.
This policy explains what the SG Mahjong app for iPad ("the app"), made by Yew Huat Tang ("we"), does with information. If you have questions, email richardtang@me.com.
What we don't do
- We don't ask you to create an account or give us your email, phone number or real name.
- We don't show ads, use analytics or tracking tools, or share data with data brokers.
- We don't sell or rent any information.
- We don't collect your location, contacts, photos or microphone.
Information stored on your iPad
The app keeps the following on your device only. We cannot see it:
- The player name you type (a nickname of your choice).
- Your settings (tai limit, stakes, sound and so on).
- Your play-money bankroll, rank points (LP) and hand statistics. These are kept in the iPad's secure storage so they survive reinstalling the app.
- Your saved big wins (hands worth 5 tai or more).
- Players or posts you have blocked or hidden in the Hall of Fame.
Game Center leaderboards
If you are signed in to Apple Game Center, the app posts your current bankroll and rank points to the "Top Bankroll" and "Top Rank" leaderboards, where other players can see them next to your Game Center nickname. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. You can sign out of Game Center in the Settings app at any time.
Hall of Fame (only if you share)
Nothing is posted unless you tap Share to Hall of Fame and agree. When you do, the app stores the following in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) public database, where everyone who uses the app can see it:
- your player name,
- the winning hand, its tai breakdown and play-money payout,
- the date of the win and your rank at the time.
iCloud attaches an anonymous identifier to each post so that only you can remove it and so other players can block it. That identifier is unique to this app and does not reveal your Apple ID, email or name. We can't see who you are from it.
You can remove a post at any time: open it in Big Wins → My Big Wins and tap Remove from Hall of Fame. You can also email us to have a post removed.
Playing on the local network
When you host or join a LAN game, the app talks directly to other iPads on the same Wi‑Fi using Apple's Multipeer Connectivity. Your player name, rank and game moves are sent to the other players at the table. This data goes directly between devices and is never sent to us.
Reports
If you report a Hall of Fame post, your email app opens a message to us with the post's ID. We receive whatever you send in that email and use it only to review the report.
Children
The app includes simulated gambling with play money and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
- Deleting the app removes your settings and saved big wins. The bankroll and rank are kept in your iPad's secure storage; to remove them, contact us and we'll explain how.
- You can remove your Hall of Fame posts in the app or by emailing us.
- You can stop leaderboard posting by signing out of Game Center.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
